There’s Nothing Common About Making Sense: Tobacco Users

I will not be wasting time talking about the dangers of Tobacco to one’s health.  Decades of surgeon general’s and cancer deaths of those we know and love should be enough to convince anyone that tobacco use – although extremely common – does not make sense.

Rather I want to simply point out some habits that are very common that simply don’t make any sense as it relates to tobacco use.  Smokers always have to have a clean ashtray.  Very common.  Makes no sense.

Let me see if I understand the situation.  You light up a cigarette and put a filthy amount of toxic air and pollutants into your lungs, you create ash as the cigarette burns which can hit the ashtray or some other surface and then you produce a nicotine and sometimes lip stick stained (female) cigarette butt which find a way into countless drains and landfills.

Simultaneously one produces air pollution as second hand smoke fills the air, dirt and filth as ashes fly everywhere and trash laden with germs as the butts lay everywhere.  Not to mention the yellowing effect of the smoke on teeth, clothes, wall paint, ceiling tiles, and practically every surface that the smoke touches.  A grand collection of filth spewing everywhere but for heaven’s sake all done with a clean ashtray!!!

There’s Nothing Common About Making Sense

I thought the first blog post should carry the same title as the the name of the blog itself.  There’s Nothing Common About Making Sense is a blog about things in our lives that are very common that just make no sense to me.  If you choose to read these posts you will notice a range of topics with very little regard for political correctness, very little regard for serious topics, and very few things are off limits.  I hope you laugh at times, think at times, and perhaps make this blog a part of a better day.

I don’t care if you agree or disagree. I don’t care if you are offended.  I don’t care if people read this en mass.  I don’t care if my spelling is correct.  I don’t care if my grammar is correct.  My agenda is I have no agenda.  If you enjoy it – read the next post.  If not – don’t come back to the site.  Either way try to have a great day!!
